It seems to me that the so-called “Christian Right” that's running the country more and more these days is disproportionately interested in the parts of the Bible that involve hate. And of course by that I mean none of it, except maybe some Old Testament throwbacks like “God hates fags” or “Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth, electric chair for minorities” or “There was plenty of clean air in Eden and you bitches got kicked out, so light up,” that sort of thing.

This week's Fascist You Probably Never Heard Of: Erik Prince, whose company is deploying mercenaries on American soil while the government reconsiders that antiquated Posse Comitatus Act:

Blackwater's success in procuring federal contracts could well be explained by major-league contributions and family connections to the GOP. According to election records, Blackwater's CEO and co-founder, billionaire Erik Prince, has given tens of thousands to Republicans, including more than $80,000 to the Republican National Committee the month before Bush's victory in 2000. As a young man, Prince interned with President George H.W. Bush, though he complained at the time that he “saw a lot of things I didn't agree with–homosexual groups being invited in, the budget agreement, the Clean Air Act, those kind of bills. I think the Administration has been indifferent to a lot of conservative concerns.” Prince, a staunch right-wing Christian, comes from a powerful Michigan Republican family, and his father, Edgar, was a close friend of former Republican presidential candidate and antichoice leader Gary Bauer.

Amazing how few so-called Christians understand that their Lord makes absolutely no distinctions between the killing of a baby (of whatever developmental stage you care to quibble over) and the killing of an armed looter in New Orleans. Absolutely none. (Oh, sure, there's probably a hair of distinction in the next theological step, but I'm talking about the act and the actor.) So really, a “staunch right-wing Christian” might as well be CEO of Planned Parenthood of America as co-founder of a company of armed mercenaries who engage American citizens with lethal force.

But then again, it might be harder to make billions and billions of dollars working for PPA.

Remember, Erik, and you other “Chrisitan” billionaires:
