As my birthday bore down on me like a herd of bison with a bad case of the throw-ups, I read Lori’s take on an “Old Skool” music mix, and that set into motion one of my umpteen million “Hey this shiny object is WAY cooler than my dissertation research” distractions. I decided that I wanted to go into this terribly unceremonious birthday fully stocked with music from those days when my biggest worries involved passing notes to boobless girls and mastering the tuck’n'roll on my new Guess? jeans — or even before that, who was I going to skate with during a Couples Only Skate! $22.77 later on iTunes, my holiday weekend roadtrip was set to these classics that you just have to rush out and download:
